The proposed 300 George Street complex has been a collaboration between Zenx Architects and DBI Architects. DBI is responsible for the design of the Podium elements and the W Brisbane Hotel. Within the parameters of the Brisbane City Council planning scheme, the authors have sought to create an integrated mixed use development incorporating Retail, Five Star Hotel, an A-Grade Office Tower and a high quality Residential Tower.
The buildings are united by a coherent and consistent material palette and by an aspiration to deliver a high quality, engaging pedestrian environment for the broader community. The nature and the scale of the project mean that it will be a significant intervention into the existing built fabric. The proposal for 300 George Street seeks to engage the river visually, architecturally and poetically. It seeks to create a new transparent, welcoming and legible urban intervention incorporating a large scale poetic gesture to the Riverside Expressway and the Brisbane River.
