The proposed redevelopment represents an opportunity to develop a new, significant and innovative hotel building in Ballarat and adaptively reuse and integrate the existing heritage railway shed.
The masterplan focuses on the area to the north of the Ballarat Train Station. Proposed in the new development is the conservation and re-use of the existing Goods Shed, a heritage listed building of 1868. The Goods Shed will have a Conference and Events Centre as well as a number of retail and food outlets.
A Hotel of Serviced apartments will be located to the North West corner of the site and to the North East edge of the site a Multi-deck Carpark will service the Ballarat Train Station. Commuters will be connected to the Ballarat Station by the proposed internal road that cuts through the site.
A new bus terminal is also proposed within the precinct.
