Somerset College

DBI are proud to have been commissioned to deliver Somerset College’s innovative new campus building.

The new Aitkenhead building with a combination of specialist rooms such as art, music, technology and S.T.E.M., and new classrooms for years 4 and 5, are a seemingly simple contemporary solution which belies the complex nature of the challenge.

The integration of the architecture, with its distinct Queensland feel with sub-tropical overlays, along with the landscape, and the interior/outdoor nature of the classrooms has been key to the success of the project.

The plaza provides educational opportunities for students of all years, with this space now providing a multipurpose campus green as a space for informal play, to have lunch, to socialise, be educated in, and to host day and night school events and festivals.
